CREATIVE WRITING

Creative writing was the part of my life that led me to this career. I started off writing small for-fun “picture books” as a kid, and worked my way up to full-length novels. As a magna cum laude graduate from Columbia’s renowned Creative Writing program, I am now ready to teach your child everything from the basics to the most advanced parts of my craft.

Students will learn how to express character and develop their settings through the “show, don’t tell” method–showing the reader their story through plot and action rather than simply narrating. Students will also learn how to fully flesh out the world that their stories take place in. They will do this through not only vigorous writing exercises but also through one-on-one discussions with me. Finally, I will help them gain the confidence to find their own unique voice as writers, the voice that will truly bring their stories to life.
