About the Founder, Gloriana Xia

From the moment I could pick up a pen, I’ve been writing, and it’s led me to some amazing places. I have finished my first novel, and am currently working on another. I earned 5s on both AP English tests and am certified to teach AP English Language and Composition. I earned a perfect score on the SAT. I graduated magna cum laude and as a John Jay Scholar from Columbia University with creative writing and East Asian Languages and Cultures majors. I have also taken graduate-level classes in English and wrote a 45-page senior thesis, on all of which I have received A's.

At Columbia, I organized many study groups and then got thanks from my classmates for helping them with their studies and grades. In college, I volunteered for Matriculate, an organization that helps low-income teens get into top colleges. I enjoyed working with young people, guiding them through the entire college admissions process, helping them developing memorable college application essays, and teaching them basic writing skills. It is from these experiences that I discovered my talent for teaching and working with young people.

After graduation, I had the fortune to work for Cardinal Education, a premier college consulting company in the Bay Area, and the elite Hamilton Education in San Diego. My experiences included helping students with college and prep school admissions. I tutored students on the SAT, ACT, and English, and also on creative and academic writing. I was able to achieve some amazing results. For the 2020 academic year, four of my students got admitted to Stanford (one was highly unexpected) and one got admitted to Harvard. I had a student whose English grade increased from C+ to A in one semester. I had many high school students whose SAT and ACT scores increased 200-300 points over the summer. Currently, I am developing my own curriculum for teaching high school students how to craft the college essay

When I work with my students, I strive to discover their challenges and find remedies for them. I set high expectations for my students and encourage them to think for themselves. Each lesson  is well-prepared, interesting, and fun. My goal for my students is to achieve their full potential and become confident, independent and lifelong learners.
